It was a way to build up their relationship but I would have preferred more romantic buildup and interaction in the present. I still enjoyed the story, their journey and the new characters introduced. May 01, Kate's Corner marked it as lost-interest. Not feeling this series anymore. Oct 14, Bev rated it liked it Shelves: paranormal. I've really enjoyed this series, but wanted so much more for and from Vega.
I liked her in earlier books but she didn't win me over this time. I didn't feel their connection like I expected to. Mar 20, Laurie rated it really liked it Shelves: paranormal , series-to-keep-up-with. And then to figure out it was to Gabriel…that was the icing on the cake. I liked Vega in past books, but her attempts to show how adult she was came off as immature to me at times.
It took a bit, but she does finally settle down and start to make grown-up decisions. This is good because I was beginning to think poor Gabriel got a bum deal when it came to his mate. I really liked Gabriel. Although I questioned his decision on distancing himself from Vega because of the vision, I did understand it. At times his loyalty would be pulled both ways, but he always made the right choice.
He was steadfast and wise, and also the type of alpha who made sure his woman was as safe as she could be while also letting her do what she needed to and I adored him for it. With a bad guy to catch as well as a previously unknown danger no one was expecting, there was lots of action. But who really got my interest was Mira and her sister, Prima. Barring my issues with Vega, this was a great read.
It was fast-paced with lots of mystery and action and of course some sweet sexy times. She used to be a rebel child but not anymore.
I really liked this side of her. Gabriel, knowing what he knew of their future, always proceeded with caution but was never overbearing or possessive. The romance trope was kind of fated mates however it was sweet and believable with a high dose of pure passion and explosive chemistry. During their mission, Vega and Gabriel always behaved as the true partners and the professionals they were supposed to be while keeping their emotions on check. I always love it when an author keeps the plot real yet knows when it should be about the romance.
We also get to meet new characters and the story digs further into the paranormal world. I think we may be seeing more humans in the future since it seems supernatural and human beings are working together to keep peace all around. All in all it was a great book and I recommend it to anyone looking for a fast-paced, entertaining read. Apr 09, Elisa rated it it was amazing. Finally we get Gabriel and Vega and what an awesome story it was totally explosive just like I was expecting lol it was so good to see Gabriel undone more than once.

After all she's a hybrid vampire-wolf shifter who has enormous powers. I liked that she became an operative in a government sponsored Black Ops group. A strong woman who can take charge in any situation makes a powerful story. I was hooked. Her chemistry with Gabriel is very sensual, but he's determined to keep his distance. He thinks that he's protecting her. I love Vega is determined to take control of her life. I loved how caring and self sacrificing he is. When they go on a mission together, things get complicated. I loved seeing them work together. They make a formidable couple.
I enjoyed Guardian of Darkness. I was happy to catch up with the Stavros pack. I've been waiting for Vega and Gabriel's story and it was worth the wait. Katie Reus has written an exciting and suspenseful story that left me wanting more. I wonder what will happen next? I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed.
My comments are my honest opinion. Years ago an Immortal warrior saw the love of his life, his mate, perish right before his very eyes in a vision. These visions are never wrong, thus Gabriel making a pact to himself to never seek his beloved. No matter how much he aches for it, he is saving her life.
But fate has other plans Vega is smothered But something Romance, Sex, Action, and Suspense this is a book you don't want to miss. It contains a lot of references to characters for whom they were the protagonist couple in one of the previous six novels and as such contains a number of character and plot spoilers. Nor did we particularly get any sense of the deep emotional connection Gabriel is supposed to have to her. It would have been better if it was something a little different. Mar 22, Danielle Gypsy Soul rated it really liked it Shelves: fantasy , shapeshifter , vampires , paranormal , netgalley-or-author-arcs. I really love this series and I enjoy each book in the series. Although you could probably read this as a stand alone I recommend reading the earlier books in the series first since both characters are introduced in previous books.
Guardian of Darkness centers around Vega and Gabriel who are both reoccuring secondary characters. I've always liked Gabriel and while Vega hasn't been my favorite she did grow on me in this book and I ended up enjoying her. I liked Vega and Gabriel together as well al I really love this series and I enjoy each book in the series.
I liked Vega and Gabriel together as well although I thought Gabriel's turn around was a bit abrupt. The couple doesn't spend as much time together as her couples usually do but the plot itself was very well done. I also really enjoyed that we moved to a new location and were introduced to some new characters. Yes I'm very excited about meeting Judoc and hope we get his story soon and I also found August to be an intriguing character. I loved the way Vega has matured and her confidence and spirit especially towards Gabriel once he told her about his vision.
I also found the humor in this book that I enjoy in this series. I also loved that once the two started working together they didn't keep secrets but were honest with each other. Overall, a great edition to a wonderful series that continues to entertain! A copy of this book was provided to me by Netgalley and the publisher with no requirements for a review.

Vega Stavros has no idea why the man that she loved walked away without a backward glance. Intending to move forward without the man she believed was her intended mate, Vega will come to learn the truth about the past, the present and their future. The premise is entertaining and engaging; the characters are familiar and intense; the romance is fated and seductive.

Destiny will not be thwarted no matter your intentions… This is the seventh book in the Darkness series that can be read as a stand-alone. No matter Destiny will not be thwarted no matter your intentions… This is the seventh book in the Darkness series that can be read as a stand-alone. No matter how much he wants to protect the woman he would let go you can never really thwart destiny and when a young female joined the Stavros pack, the daughter of the Alpha, he knew to keep his distance, rationalizing if they never mated she would still be safe.
As she grew up they were friends until she matured and the attraction he could not deny became problematic to his objective of saving her life. Being the hybrid, half vampire and half wolf shifter, daughter of the Stavros pack alpha was a change from the life Vega Marius Stavros had known alone with her mother and also something to live up to as an adult.
Gabriel joins the operation as he will not allow her to go it alone. It will not be hard for them to pose as lovers with the heat that emanates from them when they are together. Can Gabriel keep his control and not risk the vision coming true? This book has everything to keep a paranormal romantic suspense reader turning the pages.
The plot flows seamlessly from pack issues to special psychic abilities, waking hibernating dragons, an open hell gate, government supernatural black ops, and a romance destined to happen no matter what the hero did. The heroine was strong and coming into her own with a need to prove herself to no one but herself which was a sign of maturity. I loved the letters never sent that the protagonists wrote to each other as a form of personal therapy, coalescing the past and the present time lines.
This was another most entertaining read, a great addition to the series. An advanced reading copy was obtained from the author. Imagine his shocked surprise when his mate shows up.
This is something her dad would not approve of , if he knew about. Gabriel sees her as she is going out on her first mission and Gabriel is compelled to intervene. He must because this is his mate. He gets made part of her ops team and when he finds out she is heading straight into the heart of his former home, he remembers his dream and this is where he foresaw Vega die. Gabriel cant let that happen, this is his mate and he must save her.
This story has many ups and downs, twists and turns. I enjoyed reading the love story between Vega and Gabriel. Yes, there were secrets and some lies but the secrets were not done to hurt anyone. When they work together, they are solid and a team. Guardian of Darkness introduces several new exciting characters in this story in the Darkness world, ones I hope we get to see in other upcoming stories.
These new characters each have ties to existing characters. What I enjoyed was how Ms. Reus integrates those new characters seamlessly into this story and she has done it well with very new story she writes. That is what is great is she writes her stories and all the characters blend together so well and work perfectly together with no ragged edges. Guardian of Darkness is an exciting addition to the awesome paranormal romance series I continue to read.
There are many characters but they all work well together. My Rating: 4. Mar 13, Kristi Hudecek-Ashwill rated it it was amazing. This is the seventh book in the Darkness series. The series just keeps on getting better and better. This particular installment is centered around Vega and the pack guardian, Gabriel. If you've read any of the previous novels, you will remember her being the daughter of Finn and Lyra.
See Darkness Awakened, the first in the series, to read their story. Vega has a new job that is incredibly dangerous. She hasn't told her parents about it and really doesn't want to. What she wasn't counting on wa This is the seventh book in the Darkness series. What she wasn't counting on was Gabriel coming back into her life.
He'd up and left her when his feelings for her got too deep and after he'd had a vision of her dying. But he was back and he was in full protective mode. If you've been keeping track of the characters in this series, which is not a requirement to understand or enjoy this novel, it will refreshing to see what they've been up to and how their lives are changing. Just because they aren't major characters in the story doesn't mean they've been forgotten. I love that part of this series. Another thing I loved were the letters that Gabriel and Vega wrote to each other, never intending the other to see them.
They were over before they even got started yet they had some deep feelings for each other. Kathryn has no idea the mess she's gotten herself into when trying to weed out the truth for her blog She is in so much danger, but not only from the evil in the city, but from her treacherous body as well. The plot was entertaining and well-written, focusing more on the relationship, but not neglecting the action. It was a good balance for the genre. But my faaaaavorite part? Fantastic start to a new series. Characters are great, Kathryn who writes a blog gets herself in a whole lot of trouble when she stumbles on corruption in the mayor's office, then posting it on her blog sends the bad guys after her. Also throw into the mix two 'super humans' Lightening and The shade who are super hot, looking forward to reading more about those two! Really enjoyed this, read it in one go will definitely be reading the others in the series.

We meet blogger Kathryn, who sees the city's hero Lightning in action when he saves the coffee shop customers from robbery. Her hero worship is short lived when he offers smtg similar to sexual harassment She can't believe the city's masked supes are doing stuff around and city and the mayor isnt doing anything But b4 she realizes the severity of her article, Lightning marks her by biting her saying it will save her and to stay out of trouble. The Shade aka lightning's nemeses.
The shade has to have her after saving her and Mark's her for his own. What lightning failed to mention is that sex seals the deal and Kathryn is like a cat in heat. The shade left his mark This doesnt please lighting and remarks her then seals it Things dont add up Kathryn is marked by both supes and cant hea enough of them.
When an invitation by the mayor to attend an event it's her chance to find answers. Will she be fought over by the good guy and the bad guy? What happens when her clues leads to kidnapping and murder? Why is Kathryn so special? Is the city safe from supes or is this just the beginning of the end? Feb 21, Ex Libris rated it it was amazing. Lightning: our first alleged hero. In his initial encounter with Kat he reveals a smug dominance which ends with him basically sexually harassing her!
The Shade: our second anti hero. Kathryn encounters him in one of the loneliest and unsafe areas of the city. Kathryn has fearlessly wandered into a truly dark and deadly encounter with some thugs of questionable morals. Nora Ash at her best IMO! Fast paced world building and the descriptive character development made this a speedy read that I simply could not put down. Nora Ash has never disappointed me.
Off to read book two, Hidden in Darkness. This one gets five stars! Into the Darkness is part one of a paranormal serial series, approximately 18, words. Consistent with other stories I have read that are in a serial format this first part resembles a pilot for a TV show - where everything that happens does so at a quick pace, trying to hook as many types of "viewers" as possible into sticking around for the rest of the series. I liked quite a few things so far - I'm a big fan of "superheroes" so that is a plus for me, and I liked the heroine's chemistry with Into the Darkness is part one of a paranormal serial series, approximately 18, words.
I liked quite a few things so far - I'm a big fan of "superheroes" so that is a plus for me, and I liked the heroine's chemistry with both of the male figures in this first part, though we don't know much about either. I wasn't opposed to the quick sexual content of this book, or the extremely mild dubious consent in fact, I wouldn't even call it that myself.
I also liked that the heroes are described as rivals of each other and the position this puts Kathryn in between them. I'm not sold on the heroine yet - she so far seems a little less intelligent than I prefer my heroines to be, and just in general I personally am not a huge fan of reporters in books they are all portrayed the same - it's almost a stereotype at this point. There are issues with writing quality - not typos, per se, but definitely with sentence structure. It also seems pretty simple so depending on your perspective it might be a relaxing read you don't have to put much thought into, or an interesting piece of fantasy fiction you'd rather not spend money on.
For me, I am intrigued enough to want to continue reading the next part but I can't give it the full 3 stars of the GR "liked it" rating so will say it is 2. I am voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a free copy. Jul 27, Mandy rated it really liked it Shelves: paranormal , cliff-hanger , erotica , start-of-series , majority-single-pov. A darn good start of series, as it piques curiosity and leaves you excited for what comes next.
It is an intriguing, dirty read full of action, passion and lust. Lightning is the revered superhero of St. Anthony and saves everyone during the robbery. In the article, she questions Mayor Wilkins relationship with the superheroes and insinuates that there is corruption present. As curiosity gets the better of her, Kathryn decides to investigate further which leads her deeper into danger.
The one is revered and the other feared. The only similarities being their glowing blue eyes denoting them as superhuman and that Kathryn becomes both their focal point. This book is well written and although edges towards being on the darker side, there is a hint of humor very slight which does lighten up things a bit. It is a short, fast, erotic read which is focused around Kathryn. Thank goodness all the books in this series have now being released. I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review. Jul 29, SBee Reviews rated it it was amazing.
Caught in the middle of a hold-up while on a coffee run nets her an incredible up-close view of "Lightning," a being with supernatural speed, Kathryn Smith realized she had an opportunity to do an interview with him. She strikes out in an article which lands her in very HOT water, questioning the morality of those who had special powers and their activity in St.
Thrilling new series for me which definitely claimed my interest - looking forward to reading the rest of these books from this author! I'm very intrigued by the world that Nora Ash introduces in Into the Darkness. What if superheroes super villains exist?
And if they do exist, what makes them "heroes"? When Kathryn is saved by Lightning when he foils a coffee shop robbery, she's sure it's her chance get an exclusive. It's just what she needs to put her blog on the map, and actually, make some money! I'm on the fence about Katheryn. She has this fierce need to figure out what's really going on but is just a small-time blogger. It's like she's afraid to be bold. So when she's faced with, not just one, but two very alpha supes, she finds ways to deflect any and all blame from herself. I hope this is the set up for an interesting character journey. Ash has set the groundwork and foundation a complex and interesting world.
I can't wait to get back "Into the Darkness" to see what happens next! Nov 18, C. I'm still getting used to serials, but with this one, it was a major blast. You had a beginning, middle and end with a plot that you know expands to the next level, but I was totally fine with where it chose to end itself. It was hot, suspenseful, kinda funny and I think I may come to dig Kathryn and the new superhuman men in her life.
I liked the thought of superhumans being out in the open taking on superhero roles. I've never read a superhero novel, so I was a bit hesitant when The Lightning c I'm still getting used to serials, but with this one, it was a major blast. I've never read a superhero novel, so I was a bit hesitant when The Lightning came in to save the day, but to see him- to know that he and the others, are all really just supes with a mask and nothing like Superman?

Why didn't I give it a five-star for Goodreads? Well, I just didn't like the men of the menage.
Ash does say they are "bad boys" - and they are; one is a jerk and the other a killer. But at the same time they, in their own ways, try to be good. The jerk has mind control and uses it on the woman to show how dangerous his world is, even going as far as using it to "mark" her.
But not taking so far as to take her against her will. The killer likely has the same ability, but uses only force of will to bend the woman into submission. Again, like his opposite in her affections, he does not take her against her will. He waits until she screams for him and makes every effort to have her enjoy every second of his claiming.
